Creating “best of” lists is always a slippery slope. You run the risk of excluding something — especially when doing a “best of” list for a city that has 300-plus theatre companies. But I took on the challenge when CBS offered me the opportunity to be a contributor to their new CBS Chicago portal.
My entries are now live on the “Theatre & Arts” section (I wrote eight articles for them). I’m certain there are groups or productions I’ve overlooked, but I did my best to create diverse and representative lists. I also attempted to couch these lists with my introductions, letting readers know these aren’t definitive by any means — there’s so much to see in Chicago.
