And now for something very important: my thoughts on RuPaul’s Drag Race – Season 3

Let’s pause all this theatre nonsense and discuss what seems to be all the chatter in the surrounding environs — at least from my vantage point. Which is my home office, since we don’t get Logo on our shitty RCN service, so I’m forced to hunch over a laptop and watch season 3 of this [...]

‘Don’t you love farts?*’: The 2010 Tony Awards stink it up

I’ve saved one of my more tasteful blog headlines to discuss the mess that was last night’s 2010 Tony Awards broadcast — starting with Catherine Zeta Jones’ inelegant, mannered, and lip-sweaty performance of “Send in the Clowns.” If that is what she does 8x a week at the Walter Kerr, then I’m completely baffled. And [...]

God bless you, Rue.

I’m jumping on the bandwagon of Rue McClanahan blog honoring, because how can you not? Strangely, on a whim, I watched two hours of back-to-back Golden Girls last night (thanks, WE tv!), including my favorite episode: B Plot: Rose and Dorothy team up to compete to win $10k for writing a winning theme song for [...]

Quote of the day: Cherry Jones

Cherry Jones, two-time Tony Award winner and recent Emmy nominee for 24, speaks to Jeremy Egner of Arts Beat. In fact, I’ve been staying at [West Wing star] Allison Janney’s house in California while she’s been in New York doing 9 to 5. I joked the other day that I probably got this Emmy nomination [...]

New Favorite Show: Drop Dead Diva

While channel surfing, I stumbled on the new Lifetime show, Drop Dead Diva. Always eager for a new campy train wreck, I tuned in to the pilot episode. Ten minutes in, my interest was piqued. Twenty minutes in, I may have teared up a little. At the show’s conclusion, I was hooked.

So I watched So You Think You Can Dance…

And was ready to mock it, etc. Since I’m a snob. But, instead, I was blown away by this number.

Wednesday discovery: Classic “Rosie” clips

I don’t know who bdtb is, but I want to hug him/her. They’ve managed to capture some of the best performances from the old Rosie O’Donnell daytime talk show (and other talk shows, too!), including some fantastic Broadway numbers and belting divas. Having been a fan of Rosie’s show, and having recorded (I thought!) every [...]

Glee: Not my cup of tea

If the pilot episode is any indication of the series, Glee isn’t living up to my expectations. It’s a scattered mess, with too many competing tones and quick cuts and comedy styles vying for my attention. Also, too much plot crammed into one hour, as if they feared the season would last only 1.5 episodes.

If this ain’t a seal of approval, I don’t know what is.

“You’ve got pluck, girl!” That’s what Patti LuPone, star of stage and screen and the original Fantine in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s production of Les Misérables, had to say about Internet sensation Susan Boyle’s performance “I Dreamed a Dream” on CBS’ The Early Show. Boyle looks like she’s ready to burst with pride. (However, as [...]

I’d totally join glee club

If Matty Morrison were teaching it. Most def. Oh, hell, I’d join glee club, anyway. I was a dork in high school, so what did I have to lose? Looks like my kind of show, baby. (via persistent cookie)

RuPaul’s Drag Race Finale

Last night was the finale episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race, one of my favorite series since the third and fourth seasons of Project Runway. Let’s see how I predicted a month ago: I want to win, in this order: 1) Ongina 2) Nina Flowers 3) Bebe Zahara 4) Shannel 5) Rebecca Glasscock Who will most likely [...]

If you’re not watching RuPaul’s Drag Race…

you’re really missing out. Last night’s episode featured one of the most touching moments I’ve seen on reality TV. Ever. I also appreciate the fact that LOGO didn’t exploit this moment in the promos or the commercial bumps. So, props to you, LOGO. I won’t give anything away, but Ongina should win. LOVE HER. I [...]

My new addiction

While watching “The Soup” this weekend On-Demand, Joel McHale presented a few clips from the new LOGO reality show, “Rupaul’s Drag Race.” What a brilliant idea for a reality show! And why hadn’t it been done before! Thanks to the miracle of On-Demand, I discovered that the latest three episodes were available for viewing, and [...]

While everyone is in love with Tina Fey again

I’m loving Anne Hathaway and Kristin Wiig in this skit. I mean, snorting-in-my-cube loving it. I think it’s the combination of my affection for Lawrence Welk and my sick sense of funny. I also enjoy the Poppins one, too. Very much so. Spit spot.
