RuPaul’s Drag Race Finale

Last night was the finale episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race, one of my favorite series since the third and fourth seasons of Project Runway.

Let’s see how I predicted a month ago:

I want to win, in this order:

1) Ongina
2) Nina Flowers
3) Bebe Zahara
4) Shannel
5) Rebecca Glasscock

Who will most likely win, in this order:

1) Ongina
2) Bebe Zahara
2) Nina Flowers
4) Shannel
5) Rebecca Glasscock

Well, Loca, was I off. Bebe Zahara Benet took the crown and the title, and I should’ve known: She’s basically RuPaul Light. And why Glasscock made it as far as she did was beyond me. She wasn’t a pleasant person, and, on TV, she wasn’t THAT beautiful to warrant a pass each week. She had chicken legs, too. Her incompetencies as a queen really shone through this week. At one point the dear couldn’t even keep her wig on straight. It got so bad that the judges simply had to admit that she wasn’t even in contention for the crown anymore.

Shannel, or Ongina, should have been in the top three. Not only would it have presented a bigger challenge for Nina and Bebe, it would have made better TV. Ah, well. It was a fun first series. Crossing my fingers for a second!
