This weekend, I’m seeing Patti LuPone in Naperville, and then competing (!) in the Ravenswood Run, followed by one of two shows.

As my friend Steven pointed out, my predicament is ironic, since both shows competed for Best Musical in the 1975 Tony Awards (the year Steven was born, even more ironically! oooh!).
As we all know, A Chorus Line totally smacked down Sondheim. Since I tend to disassociate myself from losers and plan on seeing a screening of Every Little Step tomorrow, the first option makes more and more sense as I think about it….
But…a rarely produced Sondheim show!!

I think it all depends on who is playing Cassie. Nikki Snelson? Charlotte D’Amboise? Thats a done deal right there.

I agree with both comments above. Lean toward Pacific Overtures but do Chorus Line if Cassie is someone irresistible.
Ooh, that is a tough one. I don’t know. I would lean toward PO too, since the A Chorus Line tour might swing back around town?
PACIFIC OVERTURES! ITS SO LUCIOUS. Chorus Line is just boring.
PS Charlotte D’Amboise is even more boring than Chorus Line.
Of course I would go with PO, and agree with SarahB — I would’ve left CL at intermission had there been one. Bored to tears.
I think this is the same tour of A Chorus Line that I saw and I have to agree with with SarahB and Kari. It was kind of boring in spots. Some of the scenes went on for too long and some of the dancers’ stories weren’t all that riveting. Go with Pacific Overtures.
You could see the tour of A CHORUS LINE and watch the bootleg video of the original production of PACIFIC OVERTURES that someone uploaded to YouTube awhile back. That way you get Tits & Ass AND “A Bowler Hat.”
A virtual “Bowler Hat,” but still… It’s another option. :)
Thank you all for your suggestions! True to form, I’m seing neither of these, and have my tickets for “Hedwig and the Angry Inch.” This is mostly due to the horrid reviews ACL has received, as well as “Hedwig” being on hottix.
