In May, Beth and I caught Remy Bumppo’s production of Harold Pinter’s Old Times. Read my review here.
I have just discovered that another local theatre company, City Lit, was doing the same play around the same time; however they were doing it in rep with Noel Coward’s Private Lives.
Beth and I intended to see THAT production. I know this because Beth had mentioned that she heard good things about it, and they were doing a Noel Coward play as well. So when I saw Old Times tickets were on Gold Star, I bought them — not knowing there were two productions of the same rarely produced Pinter play occurring just five miles of each other. Whoops.
Just another example of Chicago’s insanely fertile theatre scene.
