I just have to capture this. Because it’s insane. Even for me:
9/25: Yeast Nation @ American Theatre Company
9/26: The Marvelous Wonderettes @ Northlight Theatre
9/27: Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom @ Court Theatre
9/30: Hairspray @ Marriott Theatre
10/9: Kathy Griffin @ Chicago Theatre
10/10: Studs Terkel’s Not Working @ The Second City
10/12: Calls to Blood @ The New Colony
10/17: The House on Mango Street @ Steppenwolf
10/17: Lettice & Lovage @ Redtwist
10/18: Heroes @ Remy Bumppo
So, I’m going from primordial ooze (Yeast Nation) to a brief “shoo-bop” stay in the 1960s (Marvi Wonders and Hairspray) to trash talking celebrity gossip (Ms. Griffin) to sketch comedy at its finest (Studs Terkel’s Not Working) to a dark, comedic domestic drama (Calls to Blood).
AND! Just added: Later in October, it’s off to a “veddy” English comedy (Lettice and Lovage). Then, it’s a back-to-backer, with a a matinee of The House on Mango Street directly followed by some Stoppard (Heroes) in the evening.
Just, Just Added! After the Marvi Wonders, it’s to the South Side on Sunday for Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom!
Wish me luck, chickens! I will report back!
