Just got this press release in my box:
Four-time Tony Award winner, two-time Golden Globe winner and receiptent of an Academy Award, an Emmy Award and a Grammy Award, the incomparable Liza Minnelli will perform in “Liza Minnelli and Friends” at The Chicago Theatre, 175 N. State St., Sunday, June 6 at 7:30 p.m. Presented by Star Productions, Minnelli will sing sensational American standards in a glamorous and intimate concert. The show will feature some of the greatest songs of all time performed in their purest, most intimate form with Minnelli and her quartet. She will be accompanied by Billy Stritch. This one-night-only performance showcases Minnelli at her best, singing these classic American standards as only she can.
Tickets go on sale Saturday, March 20 at 12 noon. Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster at ticketmaster.com or by calling 800-745-3000. Tickets range from $52 to $122. For more information, go here.
I’ve never seen Ms. Minnelli in person before. I wonder if she’ll live up to everything I’ve come to expect from the performer. I also wonder if her show will be some derivation of her Tony-winning Liza’s at The Palace. This release is shy on details.
And that’s all I have to say on that.
(Oh, one more thing: someone may want to update her headshot. I’m pretty certain she hasn’t looked like this since The Rink.)
