If you don’t know who Ann Hampton Callaway is, all you need to know is this: she’s one of my favorite female vocalists (as evidenced here). Her voice is like buttah. Like if Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday and Sarah Vaughan had a love child.

I’ve been bemoaning the fact that she never plays Chicago (her hometown). And my darling Sarah, who’s always looking out for me, texted me last week that Ms. Callaway was performing at the newly re-opened Mayne Stage up in Rogers Park this weekend. After I squealed like a schoolgirl, I got my tickets, and will be there Saturday night. And you should, too. She has four performances; I’m going to the early Saturday show. More info here >
