Well … not quite yet.
An article in The New York Times‘ Arts Beat blog announces that talks are under way for the two-time Tony winning diva (and a favorite performer of mine) to star as matchmaker Dolly Levi — a role made famous by the singular Carol Channing — in the Jerry Herman musical Hello Dolly!.
Ok? Sure. Why the hell not?
Well, the kids on the theatre boards are saying that LuPone can’t do charming or funny, forgetting that she has done more than Evita and Sunset Boulevard. Anything Goes, anybody? Reno Sweeney ain’t exactly Medea.
I mean, I find this recent video, where LuPone voices her outrage for pop culture phenomenons of 2010, wickedly funny. I mean, gettaloada that makeup job! It’s spooky funny! Seriously.
Wow. That video. Someone skipped a dose of their anticrazy pills today…
Diggity.
Hello Patty! Is Bernadette there?
