A Sleepy ‘Falling: A Wake’ and a Radiant ‘The Light in the Piazza’

After 16 years renting spaces around town, Rivendell Theatre Ensemble — Chicago’s only producing organization dedicated to women’s voices — has finally found a permanent home. The modest double storefront space features a cozy 50-seat blackbox performance venue, male AND female restrooms (a luxury for storefront spaces) and a rehearsal area.

Plus it’s only a five-minute walk from my Andersonville home, which makes it even easier for me to check out this unique group’s ambitious efforts.

Unfortunately, Rivendell’s inaugural production in their new space doesn’t quite match the excitement of the event at hand.
